Workshops
Behavior Analysts, Inc., is pleased to announce a variety of new workshops for parents and professionals presented by Dr. Partington. If you would like to receive more information regarding these workshops or would like to see when he might be in your area, please contact us.
The Revised ABLLS: An analysis of the content changes and implications for program planning
- This workshop is designed for parents and professionals who have experience in using the Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills (The ABLLS) for developing educational interventions for children with autism or other developmental disabilities. The intent of the workshop is to thoroughly review the significant changes that have been made in the revised edition of this assessment and to review programming considerations based on these changes (This is not an introductory workshop regarding The ABLLS).
After the Diagnosis: Language-based, Behavioral Interventions for Young Children with Autism
- This seminar is designed for professionals who wish to learn about intensive, language-based behavioral treatment interventions for children with autism. The seminar provides a review of the behaviorally-based interventions, a method for reviewing a child’s language and social deficits, a review of intervention plan development, and videotape demonstrations of the implementation of treatment for several young children at a variety of developmental levels. Information regarding the analysis of skill acquisition problems, evaluation of educational priorities and educational placement considerations will be provided.
Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills (The ABLLS-R) Introductory Workshop
- The ABLLS-R introductory workshop will provide the participant with the tools to analyze and track learner skills and develop a comprehensive language-based curriculum for children. The Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills (The ABLLS), created by James W. Partigton, Ph.D. and Mark L. Sundberg, Ph.D., is an assessment tool, curriculum guide, and skills-tracking system used to help guide the instruction of language and critical learner skills for children with autism or other developmental disabilities. This powerful tool is now available to parents, teachers, speech pathologists, behavior analysts, and others who design, coordinate, and/or supervise language or skill-acquisition programs.
- Children with autism have communication delays that usually require intensive language intervention. During the everyday activities of daily living, parents have many opportunities to teach language skills to their children. This workshop is designed to help parents and practitioners who work with families identify how the training of a variety of language skills (based upon Skinner’s analysis of verbal behavior), can be incorporated into these daily activities. A brief review of Skinner’s analysis of verbal behavior will be provided. Participants will review videotapes of young children with autism in a home setting will be used to demonstrate specific methodology for developing and maintaining the student’s participation in language development activities.

START…
Yes! Another acronym –' Start Teaching and Reinforcing Today! Great idea, isn't it… Well, if
your child has been enrolled in this new service offered through our STARS School Division; then yes, it is a
really great idea. The great idea came about when we had far more children to place in our classrooms than we had
space. We developed a program to get them STARTed! START is a short-term program that captures critical elements
of quality programming for children. The analysis, program development, and initial stages of 1:1 teaching with
qualified instructors along with that ever-important parent component… We, at Behavior Analysts, Inc.,
find all sorts of ways to include the parents. Why? Because it is our belief that they are a vital element to
the intervention process.
More Information about the START Program
Our Clinic Classroom at STARS School…
...has been up and running since the fall of 2001… We have had some amazing families participate in this service with encouraging achievements! This program was designed to accommodate the requests of parents who were seeking access a level of program analysis and implementation that was not otherwise available. Coupled with daily analysis and teaching sessions for the children, the parents become an integral component of the team through both formal training and hands-on coaching – The results, Wow!
