Intake process for placement at STARS School
Initial contact
Provide information regarding student’s pertinent history, current educational services, etc.;
describe general information regarding the school’s services. This initial contact is a required
component of the intake process prior to a child being considered for an intake appointment.
Intake appointment
A prerequisite to a student being added to the active waiting list is an appointment with our
intake team. The team will meet with parents and child to make a determination regarding the
appropriateness of our services to meet a student’s needs.
Waiting list
The intake team reviews all pertinent information about the child; and if appropriate, the child
is placed on the active waiting list. Children who are not offered immediate placement
(usually due to availability) can remain on our active waiting list for a period of six
months and will be eligible for consideration for openings that become available during
that time. If placement has not been secured within a six-month period, the parents can
request to renew the child's active waiting list status through additional intake procedures.

Selection
Only children who are on the active waiting list are considered when a classroom opening becomes available.
Children are carefully selected based on a variety of criteria and offered placement by the intake team.
Availability
Class size at STARS School is extremely limited and few openings are available on a regular basis.
However, openings do become available for a variety of reasons; and it is recommended that any parent
who is interested in securing placement, make contact with our coordinator of client services to begin
the intake process.
